A balanced diet is absolutely essential for healthy life and in most cases minor fungal or bacterial infections can be cured by simple changes in diet. If you are suffering from yeast infection, you should strictly avoid any food which contains starch, malt or sugar. The list is however, very long and contains some of the most tasty and delicious foods. It takes a lot of self control to avoid these tasty dishes and drinks, but if you want to avoid the irritation and embarrassment of yeast infection, you must avoid these, no matter how badly you crave for them.

Let's just go through a list of some of the things you must avoid. Well, you should try not to take pastries, crackers, pizza, leavened bread or any other white flour products, dried fruits, mushrooms, canned or bottled juices, root beer, instant cereals and alcoholic drinks. Obviously you must be wondering what else is left to eat. Go for whole grains, fresh vegetables, and yogurt with active cultures. Simply put, you should go for those foods which are free from yeast, have little or no sugar and are as free from color as possible. While on the topic of herbal supplements it worth noting that there are certain herbal oils which have strong antifungal characteristics and may be highly effective in treating yeast infection. Herbs in general boost the immunity system present in human body and some herbs also promote growth of helpful bacteria, but be very choosy while selecting any herbal supplement and be completely sure that it indeed will be helpful. Before we leave the topic of herbal supplements it must be mentioned that some special types of herbal teas are very effective in reducing burning sensation and inflammation and can be regularly consumed by those who are suffering from yeast infection.

It must be mentioned Candida is only one type of yeast among several types of yeasts that are present in our system. Not every type of yeast is harmful for us; in fact some of them are absolutely essential for a proper and balanced functioning of our system.

In case you are allergic to yeasts and molds it may help you to learn that servicia and saccharonyces are two of the most common types of yeasts found in most foods and beverages, and, peanuts and pistachios are full of molds. So, you should avoid these to avoid an attack of painful allergy.

The biggest obstacle to maintain a strict dietary regimen is to adjust with other members who are not suffering from a yeast infection. It becomes a torture to them if they are also to avoid those tasty and delicious foods just because you can't take them and at the same time it becomes quite difficult to maintain two different menus in a single kitchen for any appreciable duration of time. In such situations, support from family members becomes essential for you to overcome an attack of yeast infection.
